SELF PORTRAIT RE-DO

I redid my self-portraits because my previous ones were seemingly snapshots. This time, I focused on getting good lighting in my photos and editing them more. For the first photo, I wanted to show my happy, giggly side, therefore the background is white to show my lighter side. I wanted the light focused mainly on my face to show me laughing. For the second picture, I wanted to show a sense of frustration and stress that I get from worrying or thinking too much about school, life, etc. I combined two pictures together and painted (through photoshop) the background to show frustration. The last picture, I was playing around with photoshop and came up with the dark, abstract background and added in a picture of me in a bubble. This shows me isolating myself and wanting to be somewhere else.

Installation

Lily and I paired up to create a ocean scenery. We painted the upper portion of our installation using acrylic paint and the lower portion is a slide show with pictures and sounds of the water. Our initial plan was to hang the painting on a wall of the classroom and download our slide show on multiple computers that was in front of the painting. But our slide show file was not compatible with the Mac computers therefore we had to use our back up DVD.
Our intent is to promote tranquility and a calm atmosphere to everyday people. Those who had a rough day or just want to get away from the city life can interact with our installation and achieve a calm state of mind.
